The Red Door

I found the neatest funiture and accessories store while I was working out of town today and just had to share it.   It's called The Red Door. After I finished working, I went to see if I could find a birthday present for my mom while I had a minute to spare.  After walking in and seeing this store, I spent way too much time in there. I just couldn't help myself.  There were so many wonderful things to see.  I got caught up imagining a use in my own home for just about everything in there.

Like this for example...

Or this......

Or even some of these....

Aren't these the coolest light fixtures and lamps?!

Look at these cute Easter decorations.

They also had custom wreaths and floral arrangements.  So cute!
It is a large building with tons of things to see and buy.  If you find yourself in the neighborhood,
stop in and look around.  But, be prepared to be there a while.  Don't say I didn't warn you!

The Saints Win! Let's eat cake..

What an awesome victory for the Saints.  It's been a long time coming. It was a real tear-jerker watching Drew Brees hold his baby son while choking back his own tears of joy.  Congratulations, Saints!

Now....

Let's Celebrate!

This is the best King Cake ever.  It's from a bakery in Shreveport called Julie Anne's Bakery.  It is the most delicious one I have ever eaten.  Just bustin' at the seams with gooey goodness.  This one is strawberry and cream cheese filling.  So awesome.  You should get yourself one of these. I picked one up while traveling this week.

Hands down, this is the best king cake you'll find anywhere.  Good to the last drop!

Fabric-a-licious

I have a life-long love affair with fabric stores.  Something about them feeds my inner being. The bounty of color, texture and pattern is a feast for the eyes.  There are a few that particularly catch my attention.  This one that I went into recently has added rugs and pillows to their already adorable store.  I wish I could live in this store.  It is bright and colorful and just down-right wonderful.  I see something I must have every stinkin' time I go in here.

Take this for example...
Isn't this the cutest!  I wanted to get this for my son's room.  I think it would be perfect,
 but him...not so much.

Or maybe these adorable owl pillows...
Awesome.  I Looove these.

Or look at all of these choices.  I adore pillows.

Or what about this rug...
With these curtains.....too much fun.

Oh how I love this fabric store!  Food for thought.

                                                   Ready-made silk curtains.
Lots of things to choose from. One of my favorite stores!

Happy Shopping,

The Bayou Belle

General Store

I was working out of town yesterday and came across the coolest little store, in a very remote and unexpected location.  They were working like their tails were on fire to get ready for the lunch crowd that was about to descend upon them like locusts.  They used so many unique and creative details in their store and lunch area.  I was impressed.
Did you notice that these are actually boat motors and seats?  How clever!

Really cute. Love the metal backsplash.

The Day's Lunch Menu. Yum.

A painted wall mural, complete with 3D animal effects.  It's like being at a Natural History Museum,
only better because food is involved.

As I have said before, my job takes me to places I probably would not otherwise go.  I love finding little surprises like this along the way.

The folks that run this place are some of the friendliest folks I have come across.  I hope I am working in this area again sometime soon.....at lunchtime.
